Our new arf bi-plane Challenger II
SHIPS IN A OVER SIZE CRATE 59X14X13
Engine cowl is thick molded fiberglass and measures 9" wide X 9 3/4 tall and 11" deep so you won't have any cooling or clearance problems.
WINGS.
Each wing is laser cut balsa and hardwood construction (built up) Covered and decals pre-applied. Bottom and top wing are each 1 piece construction. It only takes 2 servos for the ailerons. They are mounted in the top of the bottom wing.Servos are mounted sideways into a servo door, then installed into the wing so only the control arm is visible. Top and bottom aileron are connected with a control rod. Bottom wing attaches to the bottom of the fuselage with 2 wood dowels on the leading edge and 2 bolts at the rear. Top wing connects to the bottom with pre-covered hardwood struts and and 2 pre-painted alum. cabane struts that are bolted inside the fuselage. Flying wires are provided for extra bracing and looks fantastic.
Fuselage;
Fuselage looks great! Lite-ply formers and side panels that have holes cut in them to reduce weight but not strength. Upper rear half of fuselage is sheeted solid to the rear of the tail. Motor box (5" by 4") extends through the firewall to the mid-section of the plane for extra support. It is also part of the structure of the fuselage (built like a super structure) The servo tray is also part of the structure and holds the throttle servo, Rudder servo (single push rod) and elevator servo ( 2 push rods that Y together). Access is simple and roomy (13 1/2" by 7"), Push the latch on top of the fuselage behind the canopy and it opens all the way to one of the front bulk heads (without removing the upper wing). 4 tabs extend forward from the fire wall (with pre-installed blind nuts) to attach the cowl.
Tail section is simple and easy. Horizontal and vertical stabs. epoxy to the fuselage and control surfaces attach with the flat nylon and metal pin type hinges. Flying wires are supplied for extra strength and looks.
Landing gear is painted alum. and attaches with 4 screws. Wheels are 2 1/2" foam with 7" long wheel pants.
